Grocery CRUD 2024
Hiya 👋! If you've been keeping up with our updates, you might have seen our 2023 year-in-review post, 2023 Retrospective.
I am excited to announce that we achieved our key targets for the year! In essence, Grocery CRUD has become more stable than ever 💪
More specifically we have stabilized the following new features:
- Master/Detailed Grid
- New upload functionality
- setRelationDynamic functionality
- Columns with dynamic width
As we move forward, our focus for the upcoming year is to keep things simple.
The transition from version 3.0 to 3.1 is significant. Here are some fundamental changes we plan to implement:
- Zero breaking changes. Our goal is to ensure a seamless upgrade from version 3.0 to 3.1.
- Elimination of zip file downloads for composer installations. I will revise all documentation pages that reference the old artifactory approach.
- Discontinuation of support for Enterprise version 2 (though I'll continue supporting the free version). If you're using version 2, I strongly recommend upgrading to version 3 as it's more stable and doesn't involve many changes. For more information, refer to our migration guide from v2 to v3.
- Simplification of installation and upgrade processes. This includes:
- Configuring the loading of JS rendered files in the output instead of an array of JS files.
- Providing default configuration in case the config file is missing.
Documentation is a crucial aspect of Grocery CRUD. This year, I aim to include more examples from our forums discussions and enhance the installation wizard. I am also considering adding a troubleshooting section.
This year, my primary focus is on simplifying installation and customization. Therefore, I am not promising any new features. However, I do have a few stretch goals:
- Grouping of form fields (e.g., tabs form grouping).
- Information icon for fields/labels.
- Password field with an eye icon to show/hide the password.
In conclusion, I am keeping my plans for 2024 concise and straightforward. I hope you continue to find value in Grocery CRUD, and I appreciate your support! 🙏 Without you, none of this would be possible 🤗!
Disclaimer: The current list is a plan of what I have as a plan to deliver for 2024 as a mini-roadmap of 2024. The achievement of these goals has complicated factors and planning on 2024 is kind of odd anyway! Remember there is still an ongoing war with Ukraine and Russia, and the world is changing rapidly with all the climate changes and the artificial intelligence and this is still a one-man project. So please treat the list of features and improvement as a to-do list rather than a contract!
